Trade Associations are formed not only to represent their respective industries but also to carry out activities that are conducive to the growth of their members. The Electrical and Electronics Association of Malaysia (TEEAM) has chosen to be active in business events, specifically trade fairs, for the greater benefit of its members. In this exclusive interview with Dr. C.T. Industry players have been lauded for their remarkable efforts during the pandemic

The MACEOS Industry Recognition Awards 2022 presented awards to honour companies, exhibition venues, and individuals for their efforts and achievements in showing outstanding leadership during the pandemic.

Four categories of awards were given out for Honorary Recognition of Covid-19 Frontliners, Above and Beyond Recognition Awards, Event Digitalisation Recognition Awards, and Industry Recognition of Business Events

Eight trailblazing trade exhibitions and conferences were given the Above and Beyond Recognition Award in recognition of their impact on the local economy and how they connected SMEs by bringing in trade audiences.

Three key personalities, YBhg Dato' Sri Dr. Hj Irmohizam Ibrahim, Protem President for the Business Events Council Malaysia (BECM), YBhg Dato' Sri Norazman Ayob, Deputy Secretary General (Industry) of the Ministry of International Trade & Industry (MITI), and YBhg Dato’ Sri Abdul Khani Daud, Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) were honoured with the Industry Recognition of Business Events awards. They had spoken out for the industry, fought for industry SOPs during the lockdown and helped rebuild the Business Events ecosystem post-pandemic.

 

MACEOS Strengthens Industry-Academic Partnership

MACEOS has established strategic partnerships with Sunway University and Taylors University, which will see the association work closely with the higher learning institutions to nurture new talent in Business Events.

The collaboration is expected to further facilitate internships placements, the exchange of scholarly materials and information, joint research, and more. It will also strengthen knowledge sharing through workshops, seminars and conferences.

The MoUs were signed during the MACEOS Gala Dinner on 25 November 2022 at MITEC and witnessed by YBhg Datuk Hajah Saraya Arbi, Secretary General, Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.

 

Some 2,500 events set to generate RM1bil in 2023

During the launch of the 7th edition of BE@Penang 2022 at SPICE Convention Centre, Penang Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow said PCEB was expecting 2,500 events with 260,000 delegates next year. “The events are set to generate EEI of RM1bil. Penang hosted 77 business events last year and successfully recorded RM14mil in EEI. Many events in the state have been scheduled from next year onwards until 2026.”

 

Sarawak publishes the International Journal of Business Events and Legacies

Sarawak has published the first issue and volume of the International Journal of Business Events and Legacies, known as IJBEL, and announced its success at a press conference today, joined by international business events counterparts.

IJBEL is the world’s first international academic journal specific to business events and the legacy of such events. Its core objective is to address issues via case studies, research and viewpoints on topics such as event planning and delivery, and strategies adopted by interconnected sectors such as hospitality, tourism and economics. Exhibition industry in Thailand posts strong rebound 11 new international trade shows in 5 months

Thailand’s trade show industry has staged a strong rebound since borders reopened. Eleven new international trade shows were successfully launched between May and September of this year with supports from Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) in pursuit of advancing the “Thailand 4.0” national agenda. And to effectively take the initiative, the bureau also launched its “SPIRE Thailand” – a campaign that helps driving domestic exhibitions in key vertical industries. (Click here to read more)

 

Asian government representatives and global Business Events industry leaders agree on next steps of collaboration

The Business Events and Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) industry in Asia is on course to catalyse its potential after global industry leaders and government representatives agreed on five key areas of collaboration at the Joint Leadership Summit (JLS) at The Fullerton Hotel, Singapore on 5 October.

Senior representatives from global Business Events organisers underlined their commitment to the region and the vital role that the industry plays in supporting national and regional governments in implementing their economic and societal development priorities. (Click here to read more)
