Dear members and friends of the industry,

Happy New Year to each and every one of you! I trust this message finds you in good health and high spirits.

As we usher in the promising dawn of 2024, I extend my heartfelt congratulations and gratitude to each of you for navigating the challenges of the past years with unwavering dedication and resilience. Firstly, let me take a moment to applaud your incredible efforts throughout 2023. Despite the obstacles posed by the global pandemic, our collective efforts have propelled the business events industry to new heights, showcasing our community's resilience, strength, and fortitude.

Reflecting on the past year, it's uplifting to see the positive momentum of our industry, and I trust that it will continue into the new year, setting the stage for a future filled with more opportunities.

I wish to remind you how we benchmark our industry recovery on the significant contributions made in 2019, and we have definitely surpassed this level. The forthcoming year looks promising for the industry. It's a testament to our pivotal role in shaping our nation's economic landscape.

As we tread through 'Phase 2: Collaboration' of the MACEOS Strategic Roadmap 2022-2030, the importance of fostering efficient collaboration becomes increasingly apparent. We firmly believe that the alliances we cultivate today will undoubtedly serve as the cornerstone for 'Phase 3: Focus', wherein our industry will play a pivotal role in contributing towards sustainability and nation-building.

As we move forward, it is essential that we collectively embrace the changing landscape of business events. Our compass points for the journey ahead are digital transformation, professional standards, community strength, ongoing workforce upskilling, and a growth-oriented mindset.

Your continued support is the key to our success, and I extend my heartfelt thanks. As we embark on the New Year, let's continue championing business events as a cornerstone of innovation, product development, knowledge transfer, networking, and economic growth.

FEEDBACK WANTED - DEPARTMENT OF STANDARDS TO ESTABLISH STANDARDS FOR BUSINESS EVENTS

The Department of Standards Malaysia has released the draft for Malaysia's business events standard (DMS) 2765 for industry stakeholders to review and provide feedback on the draft MS 2765 - Business Events.

The proposed standards encompass three parts:

Convention, Exhibition Centre, and Event Space Requirements

Professional Congress Organiser (PCO) Requirements

Professional Exhibition Organiser (PEO) Requirements

From 15th December 2023 to 14th February 2024, all parties are invited to share their thoughts and perspectives on the draft to the creation of a comprehensive and user-compliant MS document.

MACEOS COURTESY VISIT TO YAYASAN HIJAU MALAYSIA (YHM)

MACEOS, represented by our esteemed Exco Member, Mr. Chandra Ganesh and Executive Director, Mr. Ezriq Sajad recently had the honour of a courtesy visit to Yayasan Hijau Malaysia on 5 December 2023, an organisation under the Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment, and Climate Change. During this insightful meeting, Mr. Ganesh engaged with Dr. Nurul Muiz Murad, the CEO of Yayasan Hijau Malaysia.

We are excited to share that both organisations have delved into discussions about potential collaborations, focusing on sustainability initiatives among MACEOS members. This marks a significant step towards encouraging our members to integrate sustainable practices into their businesses.

The networking session during this past festive season was one to remember. With over 70 members in attendance, the atmosphere was filled with laughter and joy at the luxurious The Estate that overlooked an unbeatable view of Kuala Lumpur at night while indulging in sumptuous food and wine. The evening provided a great networking opportunity and unwind with colleagues and industry peers.

MACEOS made a momentous courtesy visit to Tourism Selangor on 21 December 2023, engaging with Tuan Azrul Shah Mohamad, the esteemed Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Selangor. President, Mr. Francis Teo led the MACEOS delegation, accompanied by Mr. Yusno Yunus, Ms. Lim Ee Huang, Mr. Mohd. Hafizuddin, and Mr. Ezriq Sajad.

Together, we explored exciting collaborations to boost the business events industry in Selangor, the Golden State of Malaysia. Selangor's tremendous potential holds the key to expansive business events growth in Malaysia!
